Sub Zero Solutions – Dry-Ice Blasting & Cleaning Services for Grande Prairie & Area

How It Works

Dry-ice blasting – sometimes called dry-ice cleaning – is a truly unique solution to near-impossible cleaning problems.

Dry-ice blasting uses dry ice as a blast media. This dry ice is created from recaptured C02 temporarily borrowed from the atmosphere to help with our cleaning needs. This makes it a truly environmentally responsible cleaning solution. When applied to a contaminated or dirty surface, the dry ice flash freezes the substance faster than the surface it’s on, causing a thermal shock that dislodges the contaminant. Paired with the abrasion of the ice and the velocity of the air, the contaminant is easily removed without damaging the surface it has stubbornly adhered itself to.

Safe, Healthy & Environmentally Sound

Dry-ice blasting poses no adverse health hazards to its users, unlike other abrasive cleaning methods. Unlike sandblasting, which gives off inhalable dust, dry-ice blasting releases C02 gas that is naturally occurring, returning this temporarily borrowed product back into the atmosphere. This gas is harmless when used by a professional in a well-ventilated area. It’s safe to use in homes and office spaces without risk to personal health. With dry-ice blasting, there isn’t any secondary waste. Unlike with sandblasting or pressure washing – both leave contaminated waste behind – the dry ice actually transforms directly into a gas. This means you’re left with a solid material, which can be swept up or otherwise safely disposed.

A Gentle, No-Mess Solution

Since the abrasive material used is dry ice, this type of cleaning leaves little to no mess. A unique type of cleaning, this process is both gentle and effective. It cleans grime and pollutants right off delicate surfaces – everything from expensive equipment to antique surfaces. And it does this without damaging the object or leaving a larger mess. With no mess left behind, this technology can be used to clean difficult spots in a larger variety of areas. From the mucky corners of a linoleum floor to the equipment in a protected area, dry-ice blasting is a clean solution to the greasiest problems.

Precise & Effective

The greasiest, grimiest, grossest surfaces don’t stand a chance against dry-ice blasting. A newer piece of cleaning technology, dry-ice blasting rose out of a need for cleaning that was as precise as it was heavy-duty. It can lift resin or tar off a piece of construction equipment. It can also be gentle enough to take ancient grime off an antique sewing machine without damaging it. Between the precision of the equipment and the sophistication of its technology, dry-ice blasting can be used to skillfully clean a variety of surfaces. If it’s impossible to clean any other way, dry-ice blasting usually cleans it with ease, making even the grimiest surfaces pristine.

Sub Zero Solutions comes from over 20 years of industry experience in construction and oil and gas.

Application & Uses

Dry-ice blasting is used to clean a number of different surfaces. From oilfield coolers to grimy tile grout, dry-ice blasting can be as gentle – or as heavy duty – as you need it to be.
